Why Less is More – Focusing on What Truly Matters.
(English image not yet available)The concept of "less is more" or "focusing on what truly matters" is not new. Especially in the fields of art and design, emphasis is placed on reduction. The mantra "simplify your life" is preached, and the following quote is well-known and popular:
"Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away"
(Antoine de Saint-Exupéry).
The business software MOCO focuses on what truly matters - as we promise on our website. This refers to the essential processes and necessary functions for a small or medium-sized service provider working on a project basis.
We claim that less is more at the same time. But how can that be? With less, don't I have fewer options?! So, a software that does less.
That's true. But did you know that fewer options can be liberating? Isn't it cumbersome to use software with 100 options when you only really need 20?
No one truly enjoys working like that. Now imagine you have software with 19 functions that you actually need and one feature you miss. Wouldn't you rather think about how to pragmatically cover those 5%?
Reinhold Messner turned the mountaineering world upside down with a similar strategy. Instead of following his colleagues and asking what he needed for the ascent, Reinhold asked what he could do without. With less baggage, he needed fewer porters, the climb was financed faster, he was more agile and therefore reached the summit faster. The glory was his because he dared to approach it differently.
This is exactly how we develop MOCO. New functions and processes are constantly scrutinized for possible reduction and simplification, and existing ones are simplified without losing their utility.
Shedding unnecessary weight or not taking it on in the first place brings many advantages to us and our clients.
The software remains lean and can be developed further more quickly and easily, forms become shorter, functions are more manageable, making the layout clearer and the design more straightforward. The user benefits directly. They save time and nerves.
The new lightness through the discarded ballast also requires a certain openness from the client. With MOCO, we propose processes that lead to quick success through simple, pragmatic means. That's why we developed from practice from the very beginning and still ask ourselves with every new option we consider adding, what effective benefit it brings, how often it is used, and whether we really need it.
Because less is more!
