Switzerland: QR Invoice Replaces Payment Slip

The QR Invoice was officially introduced as a payment standard in Switzerland on 30 June 2020. It aims to significantly simplify the payment of invoices. This new type of invoice includes all payment information within the QR code and can be read digitally.
But don't worry: The payment slip will still be valid for the time being. A longer transition period is planned.

From 30 June, you can activate the QR Invoice in MOCO. Before the official start on 30 June 2020, financial institutions cannot yet accept and process the QR Invoice.

Benefits at a Glance
  • Simplified issuance, possible in IBAN format across Europe and also in Euros.
  • Error-free and complete transfer of invoice data.
  • Applicable for both digital and paper invoices.
How do I switch to the QR Invoice?
1. Contact your bank to order a QR-IBAN.
2. In the settings under "Invoicing" > "ESR/QR Invoice" select the QR Invoice.
3. Enter the QR-IBAN.

Clients can now scan instead of type
For all other accounts, we have implemented the GiroCode payment option for created invoices in this step. The client scans the QR code with their banking app and pays quickly, securely, and without errors, as typing is eliminated.

Benefits at a Glance
  • Simplicity and convenience encourage invoice recipients to pay immediately via mobile banking and at bank and savings bank self-service terminals.
  • Error-free and complete transfer of invoice data.
  • Applicable for both digital and paper invoices.
How do I activate the GiroCode?
In the MOCO settings under "Invoicing" > "QR Code" activate the option and fill in the transfer details.

Why is the reference number not the same as my invoice number?
The custom-defined invoice number may contain invalid characters, which is why the reference number uses the automatically generated invoice ID instead.
The reference number is composed as follows: "RF"+ check digit + Invoice ID (Example: RF3567554).

Search by reference number:
You can search for the reference number in MOCO (global search and "More Options" under "Invoicing").

QR Code at the End of the Invoice with Comparison Data

In implementing the GiroCode for German invoices, we initially oriented ourselves towards the Swiss standard regarding positioning and accompanying texts:

Positioning on an extra page in the footer area
This area functions as a payment slip and can be detached for payment. Another advantage is that no letterhead or CI needs to be considered for the extra page.

More security with the displayed data next to the QR Code
The QR code cannot be read by the human eye. Therefore, the contained data is always displayed next to the code and can be easily compared with the scanned data.
