That's why we are inspired daily by Kathy Sierra's 'Featuritis vs. Happy User Peak' curve in our work. She calls 'Featuritis' the ailment that is omnipresent in our society today – a condition many simply accept. It refers to the 'too much of a good thing' that is supposed to enrich everyday life but actually makes it more complicated.
Examples of Featuritis
Insurance policies where an average person can hardly compare proposals confidently today. With countless models, options, and pages of fine print, a client has to struggle. Instead of making the decision easy, you end up completely confused.
Technical devices – especially self-proclaimed 'top models' offer countless functions that promise clients unprecedented possibilities, often not really needed. Hardly any device can be used without a manual.
Technical books, claiming to be 'comprehensive', but offering no focus, making it harder and more exhausting for the learner to grasp the necessary information. The learner loses motivation and might even quit prematurely – without feeling they've understood.
And not least: Software, where new features are constantly integrated, making processes increasingly complex. What was once simple becomes everyday frustration.

Why does it come to this?
The reason is – fear.
Fear, that the provider with the most features wins.
Fear, of being overtaken by competitors.
Fear, that the client decides based on a checklist and all points must be met.
Fear, that important clients might switch to another provider if feature requests aren't met.
We do not allow this fear. We fully agree with Kathy here:
“Give users what they actually want, not what they say they want. And whatever you do, don’t give them new features just because your competitors have them!”

We believe the happiest and most successful clients are those who can quickly and confidently find their way around. Achieving success quickly and effortlessly. This requires a healthy amount of features. Also, disciplined and straightforward product management that is always careful not to overshoot the mark.
After all, our software MOCO is meant to simplify (business) everyday life, not complicate it!
The 'Happy User Peak' is the goal of our journey. Some features are already there, others are close, and some are just past it. We are not perfect either. However, we never lose sight of our goal and always keep it in mind while developing. Therefore, for us, software is never truly finished. It involves constant technical updates, fine-tuning, improvement, questioning, and integrating new trends.
