Benefits of Integration

Zapier acts as an intermediary between web apps. Users create what are called "Zaps." A Zap consists of a "Trigger" and an "Action." The Trigger is an event in App A that sets off an Action in App B. The possibilities are almost limitless:

1. Activate the connection in the settings under "Extensions" > "Zapier"
2. Create an account with Zapier – and use the API key provided by MOCO for the setup

Ideas and Use Cases with Zapier

Finding the Contact for a Phone Number

Currently, in MOCO, you cannot find a contact by entering a phone number.

With Zapier, you can create a workaround. Here's an example with MOCO+Teams:
1. Create a new channel, e.g., "phonebook" in Teams
2. Use New Message Posted to Channel as the Trigger for Teams
3. Search using MOCO's Find Contact
4. Write the result back into the same channel using the MS Teams Action Send Channel Message

Examples of Using Triggers

New Activity
Collect time entries daily and send them to the team leader via email.

New Invoice Payment
Record payment in MOCO or update payment reconciliation in other systems.

New Comment
Direct comments in MOCO to a central messaging tool (e.g., Slack) to ensure nothing is missed.

New Holiday Request
Record holiday requests in MOCO and inform centrally (Slack, Email, SMS, etc.)

New Expense
Record additional services in MOCO and populate a Google Spreadsheet with these entries.

New Purchase
Record expenditures in MOCO and inform centrally or record in another system.

New Company
Record companies in MOCO and update master data in other systems. Alternative to "New Customer" - also provides other companies and suppliers (type included).

Invoice Marked as Paid
Send a thank you email via Mailchimp.

Inform Person About Updated Planning Entry
Select the "Updated Planning Entry" Trigger Add "Find User" search with the "user_id" from the "Updated Planning Entry"  →  Action "Email by Zapier" (or Slack etc.) and insert the email from the user search.

Create Purchase
Send incoming invoices via email to MOCO for preliminary recording. 

Create Invoice Payment
Record payment in the accounting system or banking in MOCO. 

Create Project
Record a project in your PM tool (Asana, Trello, etc.) and create it in MOCO.

Create Comment on Project, Lead, Invoice, Company, and Contact
Forward emails to MOCO and add them to projects, leads, and contacts.

Create Expense
Forward a new expenditure via email to MOCO and record it as an additional service.

The Limits of Zapier
Zapier is useful for automation and workflows, but not for complex integrations where flawless synchronization is crucial. In such cases, Make or the MOCO API is likely the better choice.
